Press Release--BOLD, Daniel Martin Sullivan Solo Exhibition

For immediate release: Opening March 1, 2020 is the second solo show of work by artist Daniel Martin Sullivan. revealing his love of making a BOLD statement - with color, scale, contrast, and materials. Six works have been carefully curated to show bold choices in Sullivan’s work.

When given the option, Daniel Martin Sullivan will choose to do the things that are hard because life is rarely easy. The easy path, the safe choice, these concepts are dull and won’t push the work forward. Sullivan wants to make the choice to get out of the comfort zone and pursue growth. Sullivan’s desire to come to a harmony with chaos is evident by the selected works on exhibit here.

Ken Hogrefe November Solo Exhibition Walls of Possibility

Crop of “Three Generations, Panel 2” by Ken Hogrefe

Show Announcement

Walls of Possibility documents the four year exploration of an artist finding his personal language. Like events in his life and the larger world, Hogrefe’s final work can seem to fall apart even as it finds resolution. The painting process is intuitive and carefully studied at the same time, embracing both intention and the sublime “mistake”. Rooted firmly in large scale Abstraction and Figurative Abstraction, Hogrefe uses a variety of mediums and application methods for his paintings and works on paper.

Mere Anarchy: Subconscious Patterns

“All you can do is hope for a pattern to emerge, and sometimes it never does. Still, with a plan, you only get the best you can imagine. I'd always hoped for something better than that.”

― Chuck Palahniuk, Lullaby, (Novel)

In his first solo exhibition, Daniel Martin Sullivan unveils the last two years of prolific painting. Spurred on by the experience of invention and performing with immunity to outcome, Sullivan incorporates new approaches and appropriates familiar techniques arriving at a harmony with chaos.

Press Release--Switching Cadence: Recent Living Forms

Steven Tritt Solo Exhibition

The fifth solo show by Steven Tritt, this exhibit reveals a collection of work by a mid-career artist spanning two years of risky moves focused on abstracting living forms. Tritt has a long history of rendering imagery, prioritizing a loose approach to material and application. This recent body of work represents a transformation.

Online Exclusive on Artsy.net through the month of September 2019

About the artist: Steven Tritt is a contemporary American artist born in Aurora, Illinois in 1964. He mixes materials which include many traditional drawing and painting medias as well as nontraditional ones. Collage has figured heavily throughout his career. Shortly after being accepted into the Contemporary Gallery Representation Program at The Art House Gallery in 2017, Tritt’s loosely rendered imagery took a turn towards abstraction. “I feel as if I’m striking a balance between recognizable imagery and abstraction in my work.” This is a direct result of working with Rebecca George and Tritt’s willingness to explore new materials. “While I use imagery as a starting point, there is no obligation on my part to save the integrity of the image, as I would have in the past, to complete a work.” For Tritt there isn’t a preconceived destination on any painting but a commitment to an honest and intuitive approach to art making. His influences include Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso, Max Beckmann. He holds a BFA (1986) and MFA (1990) from Northern Illinois University.
